BlueWall brand book

A clear brand book contributes to a visible and recognizable BlueWall. Within this brand book there are several characteristics that determine the visual identity: logo, typography, use of color, graphic elements, photography and use of language. This manual shows the building blocks that can be used to create resources.

Logo

Logo in color, on white or light background.

The emblem is used a independent styling element within layouts. Play with the geometric shapes and lines for a dynamic composition. Use it a a characteristic graphic, put in in balance with the desired content. Blow it up and crop it for a remarkable design.

Margins

Make sure there is enough space around the logo. Never put text too close to the logo. There is a minimum margin based on the ‘B’of “BlueWall”.

Don’ts

For the purpose of recognisability, the logo or emblem may not be deformed. Colors must also be preserved. Do not flip, rotate or adjust proportions or compositions etc.

PS: this applies for all logo variants of course.

Typography

Nexa Heavy

For use in main titles and to accent texts.

Line height

Font size x 1.2 (auto)

Nexa Light

For use in long reads (bodycopy) and basic texts.

Line height

Introductions = Font size x 1.6
Body = Font size x 1.4

Nexa Slab Bold

For use in activating headings and triggering texts.

Line height

Font size x 1.2 (auto)

Arial Bold / Regular

Can be used as an alternative for the Nexa Heavy / Light, in correspondence where standard fonts must be used.

Courier New Bold

Can be used as an alternative for the Nexa Serif Bold, in correspondence where standard fonts must be used.

Colors

Primary Orange

The characteristic main color for BlueWall. Bright orange with a soft tone, contrasts on both white and the primary gray. Preferably to use in details and elements (not as full surface and full canvas backgrounds).

Primary Gray

Main dark neutral color. For general use and as full surface backgrounds.

Functional turquoise

Color for functional use. To accent elements like call to actions. And it is the primary color for BlueKnows.

Photography

Guidelines for matching images and editing

Customized orange details

Greyed out images, darkened with the primary grey tone and a highlighted detail with the primary orange color. This editing requires extra attention and photo retouching skills.

Regular orange details

Images with orange accents in ordinary objects. Preferably with the orange tone matching BlueWall’s primary orange and as few other striking colors as possible to remain focus on the orange.

Office

Photos taken ‘in the moment’ of people being ‘busy’. With motions blurred and/or a strong depth of field, to portray focus in a busy environment and to represent professional attention.

This copy style guide gives unambiguous direction to BlueWall’s written statements. Read through it once in a while.
It’s a good way to make sure that everything you write still fully breathes BlueWall.
